Forensic Anthropology: From Crime Lab to Crime Fiction

Friday, November 10th

Dr. Kathy Reichs, noted author and certified forensic anthropologist, will be speaking as part of the Undergraduate Program on how her experience teaching FBI agents how to detect and recover human remains and separating and identifying commingled body parts in her Montreal lab has translated into a writing career and producing the hit Fox TV series, Bones, which is based on her work and her novels.

Volunteers Needed - Festival on April 22

The CP ACS is looking for a few good scientists to help introduce the public to the CP ACS and science.  We will have handouts and tchotchkes such as pencils, stickers, and more.  With enough volunteers we can have additional activities.

We will be hosting a booth at the Union County Heritage Festival, which is an approved NC Science Festival event.  For more information on how you can help please contact us by clicking here.

2015 Charles H. Stone Award Winner

The Carolina-Piedmont Section of the American Chemical Society is pleased to name Professor Joseph Vincent Ortiz of Auburn University as the recipient of the 2014 Charles H. Stone Award.

This award is given biannually by the section to the most outstanding chemist in the southeastern United States, recognizing contributions to the field of chemistry through activities in the scientific community, public outreach, education, and research.

The Carolina-Piedmont Section of the American Chemical Society is proud to support scientific events in our geographical region.  Guidelines for requesting financial support for these events have been established. Every request that fulfills the criteria outlined will be considered.
