Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) Kick-Off Meeting, Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I wanted to update you all on our YCC Kick-Off meeting, which we held this past Tuesday evening, in Burson Hall at UNCC.  We had 10 people in attendance - a few were familiar faces, but it was great to see several new faces as well!  We had Jersey Mike's sub platters, soft drinks, & chips, and the program was as follows.  We started with an introduction to the YCC/ACS, including a few words from Matthew Chan on behalf of the local ACS section.  i gave my perspective on why I chose to start a local YCC, and what benefits I perceive from being involved in this type of organization.  We played a mixer game, then went over the proposed 2006 YCC Events Calendar, to describe upcoming activities and goals for the coming year.  We have 12 events scheduled for 2006, which are a mixture of social events, technical events, plant tours, community activities, and career-oriented workshops.  Our next event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 28th at the RPM Wood Finishes plant in Hickory, NC.
